Web Standards
There are many web standards that I have chosen to follow. The most important one for me is using modules. This allows me to make simple edits and have it affect every single one of my pages. This also gives a very sleek look to my website because there is uniformity for my site. I want to make my website professional looking so I can use it as a resume builder. I also make sure that all of my navigational bar names are simple and the user will know what they are navigating to.
Usability
I have made navigation on my website very obvious. All of my links are formatted similar. Also my navigation bar uses very simple terms and the color changes depending on what page you are on. This is important for me because there are a few people in my family that are not tech savvy people. This will allow them to keep up to date about me and my family.
SEO
I have added johnbeckfamily.com to almost every tag in my website. This is important because of the repetition it will have a higher ranking. I am in tough competition between John Beck, the former BYU quarter back, and some real estate guy named John Beck. I Would like to continue to look up ways to increase my ranking so family and friends can find my page when searching my name.
ROI
There are not any sales opportunities yet for my website. I think its greatest return of investment that may come with it is through searching for jobs. I want to make my website look very professional so I can put it on my resume. This is something that I have been thinking about since the beginning of my planning. In the future my wife might want to sell crafts and things of that nature.
